As program officer at NWHF, Alejandro works in the area of public health, including public health infrastructure, and improving population health by addressing the social determinants of health.

Prior to joining the foundation, Alejandro was a program supervisor at the Multnomah County Health Department, where he has managed the Healthy Communities by Design project.  Previously, he was the American Heart Association’s State Director of Government Relations. In 2010, Alejandro was appointed by Governor Kitzhaber to the state’s Public Health Advisory Board. He also serves as a board member of the Oregon Environmental Council. 

A native of Mexico, Alejandro has a law degree from George Washington University Law School, an MS in Biological Sciences from Northern Illinois University and a BA in Environmental Sciences from the University of Virginia.
